Frequently Asked Questions....for Americans Studying Overseas

I am a U.S. citizen planning to study abroad. What is the quickest way to enroll myself in your insurance and receive my insurance materials?

Answer: On-line enrollment is the way to go! If you enroll on-line insurance can begin two days following the day we receive the completed enrollment form with valid credit card payment, or later if indicated on the enrollment form. You will receive your insurance materials in just a few minutes via an e-mail with four attachments containing your personalized ID card, Summary of Coverage Brochure, claim form and consulate letter.

The enrollment form can also be sent to us via U.S. mail or fax in which case you should allow two weeks for us to process your application manually and return your insurance materials via standard US mail.

What is the minimum I can purchase on your plan? I am studying for three weeks in Spain. Can I pro-rate the insurance?

Answer: The Insurance premium is calculated on a monthly basis. Insurance cannot be prorated; for example: if you are departing on July 2, and studying for three weeks, the premium would be for one month. The dates of coverage would extend from 7/2/04 through 8/2/04. The minimum a student can purchase is one month. The maximum is twelve months.

Does the insurance need to be paid in full, or can I pay it on a monthly basis?

Answer: Insurance must be paid in full before departing from the United States. Payment can be made via check, money order, or credit card (Visa or Master Card).

I concluded my graduate studies and will be attending the Sorbonne during the fall semester. Do I qualify even though I have completed my studies in the U.S.?

I have a group of ten students going to Spain for a language immersion program. What is the easiest way to enroll?

Answer: If you are a professor leading a group, the easiest way to enroll your students is via our on-line group enrollment site. First time users fill out a short contact information form and then are able to enroll students and have materials sent via e-mail to each student or sent in a batch back to you via standard U.S. mail. A detailed invoice will be generated and if you pay by check you should send a copy of this invoice in with your check payment.
